Seven Reasons to Look Forward to the 2017 Ford Focus RS

Car enthusiasts in the U.S. have been begging Ford to bring the Ford Focus RS to North American shores for years. Now, the time has finally come for it to hit U.S. roadways. To get our customers ready for the arrival of the 2017 Ford Focus RS, we're highlighting a few of our favorite things about the RS:

1. Not only is the RS finally arriving in the U.S. but Ford has set our hearts aflutter by promising that it will be a near match to the RS currently offered in the European market.

2. The roots of the 2017 Ford Focus RS' engine may reach the Ford Mustang Ecoboost, but that doesn’t mean it will have the same horsepower. Under the hood, the 2.3-liter four-cylinder boasts a new turbocharger tailored specifically for the RS with an expected output north of 315 horsepower. For reference, the Mustang puts out 310 horsepower.

3. The 2017 Focus RS will also get an all-wheel-drive system equipped with Dynamic Torque Vectoring. This setup will give the RS a new level of handling capability by combining unmatched traction and grip with maximum agility and the ability to corner at high speeds.

4. Driving purists can rest assured that Ford has no plans to release an automatic version of the 2017 Ford Focus RS. Instead, each car will have a six-speed manual transmission that Ford fine-tuned to deliver fast and accurate shifts.

5. While Ford has remained relatively mum on this, the 2017 Ford Focus RS will feature a variety of driving modes. So far, the only one we know to exist for sure is an adrenaline-pumping drift mode.

6. To complement the rich driving dynamics of the 2017 Ford Focus RS, Ford worked with Michelin to create  235/35R19 Pilot Super Sport tires which come with some serious sticking power.

7. The 2017 Ford Focus RS will come packed with the tech-savvy creature comforts like a driver centere console offering SYNC connectivity, a rearview camera and a premium sound system.
