The Ford Ranger Has Arrived: Here Are the Most Exciting Features of This Redesigned Mid-Size Pickup

The long hiatus since 2011 is over. The new 2019 Ford Ranger is back in Holly, MI in XL, XLT, and Lariat trims, and it's already an advancement on both its previous iteration and the competition. What can eastern Michigan drivers look forward to? Szott Ford has the scoop.

Unrivaled Performance

A powerful turbocharged 270-horsepower, 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine comes standard in the new Ranger. It's paired with a 10-speed auto transmission that's exclusive in the class, making the truck both highly efficient for the drive up to Grand Blanc, MI and down through White Lake and Waterford and a workhorse capable of making the most of its 310 pound-feet of torque. Opt for a 4x4 drivetrain and available features like a Terrain Management System, Trail Control, and a rear differential that locks, and you can do just that. Payload and towing ratings, up to 1,860 pounds in SuperCab 4x2 builds and up to 7,500 pounds respectively, bestride the class with distinction, while 5- and 6-foot bed options make plenty of room for flat building materials, tools, outboard equipment and more.

Sterling Safety Credentials

A ton of driver-assist features come standard and available throughout the 2019 Ranger lineup. The former includes pre-collision assist and automatic emergency brakes. The latter span the gamut from a BLIS system with trailer coverage, adaptive cruise control, a lane-keeping system, and a pedestrian detector to forward collision warning, dynamic braking support, auto high beams, a cross-traffic alert system, trailer tow monitoring, driver alert, and more. That's peace of mind on the road and off, whether you're out in Fenton, MI or just around the corner in Clarkston.

Expert Interior Equipment

If Ford Ranger has become known for anything, it's exceptional accommodations. For one, cloth or leather-trim seats are available, bucket-style for contour-hugging comfort. Front and center is an available 8-inch SYNC 3 infotainment system to keep you in control of your entertainment and connectivity for the duration. It features navigation support via the crowd-sourced Waze nav app, available Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility in higher trims, Ford+Alexa interoperability, and Internet access via FordPass Connect Wi-Fi.

There's plenty more where these came from. Ranger even appears in a striking choice of colors from saber, lightning blue, hot pepper red, and absolute black to magnetic, ingot silver, white platinum, and oxford white.
