Ford Hits NAIAS with New Tech

American auto maker Ford came to the 2012 Detroit Auto Show with a ton of updated vehicles, as well as many examples of their latest technology. 'Focusing' on performance (in the upcoming Ford Mustang), safety (in Ford Fusion), and eco-friendly-ness (thanks to plug-in Focus) there was no shortage of fun toys to show off.

The upcoming Mustang, for example, includes their famous GT500 variant, which hits an astounding 650-horsepower, while producing over 600 lb-ft of torque. A recent concept model sold for $300,000 at auction.

Ford Focus will go all electric in 2013, along with possible electric variants of Fusion and Fiesta. EV models on display continued to show Ford's love of alternative fuel, and a commitment to advancing their studies away from using solely fossil fuels. Ford has an "emphasis on weight relative to MPG" that "might be taking the lead in 2012," adds Torque News.1

Freshly designed Ecoboost engines will now be available on Fusion, as displayed at the auto show by propping up one model on its side, so those passing by would see under the car.

Production versions of all the above vehicles are coming to Szott Ford in Holly, MI before year's end. Drop them a line to find out when.
